Butterfly Pendant Made From Cereal Box
With just one butterfly punch, a little paint and gloss you can transform an ordinary cereal box into an interesting pendant. The pendant is lightweight thanks to being made of card board, but surprisingly resilient thanks to layers of glue. Make them in different colors and give them as gifts or use them as a great addition to your craft show booth!

Project Instructions:
- Punch out 2 butterfly shapes from a cereal box and glue both pieces together. Once dry, punch out a hole on each wing with a small hole punch.
- Paint the cardboard to your liking, it will take several coats. Here you can get as creative as you like. For the one pictured I simply dabbed different colors, but you can explore different painting techniques to see what works best for you.
- Once the paint is dry, coat the pendant with Glossy Accents and let dry. Do one side at a time.
- To add the rhinestones, add another layer of Glossy Accents and place the rhinestones where desired. Let dry.
- Make the connectors: Place 1 of the 6mm beads on a headpin and make a loop, make 2 of these. For the other connectors, place a 4mm glass pearl, a paper bead and another glass pearl on a headpin, make 2 of these as well.
- Add 1 jump ring to each of the wings. Add the connectors in the order shown in the picture.
- Cut a piece of chain to the length of your choice and connect to the headpins.
- Cut the chain in the middle and add a jump ring to one end and a clasp to the other.
Tips:
- If you don't have Glossy Accents, you can try using Triple Thick as an alternative
- Don't have a punch? Look for butterfly shapes online and simply print out and trace onto the cardboard. You'll want to use precision scissors for a nice edge.
- Use a toothpick with the end coated in beeswax to pick up small rhinestones.
