DIY Daisy Stickers From Recycled Calendars
I must admit I have difficulty throwing away anything that has pretty pictures. I store a lot of things like magazines, catalogs, tissue boxes, and of course: calendars. Old calendars are my favorite item to recycle because they usually have very vibrant, beautiful pictures. Since I don't have a lot of time on my hands to craft, I wanted to make something simple and fast (but cute). Lately I've been a little obsessed with stickers. I took a trip to Michael's but most of the stickers I liked were crazy expensive, so like a typical crafter, I went home and decided to try to make my own. I'm very happy with these daisy stickers, and I plan to make a lot more.
Materials
- An old calendar or magazine
- Pearl cabochons or rhinestones
- Glossy Accents (or a similar adhesive)
- Pop dots (if you want a 3D effect) or double sided tape
Tools
- Flower Punch
DIY Instructions
Step 1. Use a flower punch to punch out flower shapes from your old calendar. Look for colors that you like for your daisy stickers and punch the shapes from those pages. You need 2 punches per flower.
Step 2. Layer 2 flower shapes together and position them so that the petals fill all the empty spaces (you don't want them to overlap so that it looks like a full flower). Use a little dab of glossy accents to glue them together.
Step 3. Glue a pearl or rhinestone to the middle of the daisy sticker. If you don't have pearls or rhinestones, you can use a little glitter for the center. Set aside to dry.
Step 4. Once the daisy sticker is dry, we need to add an adhesive backing. If you want your flower to have a 3D affect, use a pop dot to give it dimension. If you just want to add adhesive, use a small piece of double-sided tape.
Other Ideas and Variations
If you don't have old calendars, you can also make these using an old magazine or newspaper, I think the typed words will have an interesting effect. Also, explore using glitters, dimensional paints and stamps. You can make these as unique and artsy and you want them to be. Happy crafting!!!! As always, I'd love to see your version of these recycled daisy stickers. Feel free to join me on Facebook and share your stickers!!
